Trip description
The Alpinisteig is a well-preserved way dating from the time of the First World War. This way shows us how cleverly military ways were built. On the stretch between the Elferscharte and the Sentinellascharte there is much ice almost all year long; thus climbing irons, an ice axe and ropes are necessary.Starting from the refuge Zsigmondyhütte we follow the walk number 101 and 103 until we arrive below the Giralbajoch. Having passed the saddle, we arrive at the Inner Hole after which the Salvezzaband - a horizontal path in the middle of high rock faces - follows immediately. This path is equipped with wire cables in dangerous parts. A deep rocky valley follows, then again some steep gaps with wire cables in a rock face leading to the Outer Hole. Now we cross the field covered with firn of the Outer. We slightly go up the scree and cross the broad western part of this mountain in order to arrive at the Elferscharte. From here one can either continue on the Alpinisteig or go down to the valley crossing the sharp area with scree on the left to get to refuge Talschlusshütte or to the meadows of the Rotwand. The Alpinisteig turns right. This narrow path with wire cables and a ladder in a very difficult part of it leads us in south-eastern direction to the Sentinellascharte. Here one can still find remains of trenches of barracks. Again we have the possibility to climb down on a sharp path to the Fischleintal Valley or to the meadows of the Rotwand. The original Alpinisteig leads us down to the edge of a firn field. We come by the „Feuerstein“ (Firestone) and walk down to the refuge Bertihütte on a winding path through the Val Popera. Slightly before this refuge the hike number 124 leads to the Kreuzberg Pass.

Trip description
Two alternatives: along route no. 1, directly from the large car park at Rein, or along route no. 8 from the old sawmill in the Bachertal valley (quicker but very steep and strenuous). The first destination is the Kasslerhütte refuge (2,276m) which can be reached in 1 ½ to 2 hrs. From the hut, first of all take the Hardtegenweg (no. 8) which leads level and a short distance in a light descent as far as a stream, where you leave the pathway. Directly beside the stream, take the mountain trail which leads up through a gully to a glacier lake (2,560m) – the route is marked with typical ‘little stone men’. Cross the outlet stream of the lake and the wild terrain strewn with boulders as far as a crescent-shaped moraine which leads in a broad left-hand sweep to the base of the Grauer Nöckl, from where the climb up to the Grauer Nöckl (3,080m) becomes steeper and the route not so easy to follow. From this point follow the right-hand side of the ridge to where you descent down to a gap with the help of a wire rope, then onward, first of all on the right, then the left-hand side of the ridge until you come to the summit ridge. Follow the ridge upwards or where possible, keep to the left of the ridge up along a steep gully usually filled with old snow. From here the route up to the summit is very exposed in places, though leads mostly across firm rock (degree of difficulty II). The peak is reached via a very exposed gap, though in the upper part the ridge is secured with several wire ropes. (Extra care is required in the case of new snow or autumn hoarfrost; there is also no refuge in the case of thunderstorms). From the peak climbers are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the entire Zillertal Alps, the Rieserferner massif, the Hohe Tauern as far as the Grossglockner, the Dolomites, the Ortler massif and the Stubai Alps. The descent follows the same route.

Trip description
From the Zanser Alm car park follow the road in the direction of the Sass Rigais guesthouse, where a forestry road leads across the meadows and then through the forest beside a stream, on into the valley until you come to a place called Tschantschenon. At this point you come to the road which leads from the Zanser Alm pastures to the Schlüterhütte. From there, climb up to the Gampenalm following the short cut through the bends (2.062 m, 1 hr.)The footpath marked 35 leads across the meadows to a rocky slope. Follow the bends in the road to the Schlüterhütte refuge above grassy slopes and gullies (2.297 m, 45 min.). From the refuge, follow the trail marked 4 uphill north-westwards to the nearby Kreuzkofeljoch pass (2.340 m, signposted), then northwards across flat grassy terrain to the Kreuzberg saddle and across extensive grassy slopes on the eastern side to the Peitlerscharte gap (2.357 m, 45 min.).Rock-climbing equipment essential! The pathway then leads north-eastwards up a steep grassy slope and across a steep rocky basin on the mountain’s southern slope, then meanders up to the broad saddle in rocky terrain beneath the peak (2.765 m, 1 hr.).The route to the summit appears difficult and forbidding with overhanging rocks and ridges, though in reality it is relatively easy and not particularly exposed.Once you have overcome the secured route among the rocks the stony pathway leads up to the broad summit of the Peitlerkofel (2. 875 m, 30 min.). The descent follows the same route down to Zams (3 hrs.).

From the car park follow the marking no. 8 across the the Pflerscherbach stream, continue on its northern side for a short distance as far as a fork. Take the right-hand pathway which leads uphill across grass and bush-covered slopes. The route meanders uphill to the right among smooth boulders, then across a steep slope to a ridge at the foot of the Pflerscher Tribulaun. Continue along a level valley following the marking 7 to the Tribulaunhütte.Ascent to the Tribulaun:The climb is difficulty-rated medium (UIAA graded 2-3°), friable with danger of falling rocks. The long traverses on the south face are along splintery ledges. There is a fixed wire rope at the eastern end of the second traverse and another at the base of the summit face, which to reach it is necessary to climb up approx. 3 metres. ‘Little men of stone’ mark the entire route.Ascent: 4-5 hours from the refugeDetailed information on the route can be obtained from the landlord of the Tribulaunhütte

Trip description
This pleasant climb up along the Pursteinwand rock face begins in the car park of the Jungmann furniture store close to the parish church of Sand in Taufers. Once you reach the Pursteinwand a small unmarked footpath behind the notice board leads up to the start of this climbing route in around 15 min. It is 300m long, leading up the 200m high Pursteinwand rock face. The entire route is secured with a wire rope and steps have been laid in difficult places. Bench and table beckon weary climbers at the top. There is an excellent view of the Taufers valley floor and the valley as far as Bruneck. The descent takes you past the Unterpursteinhof and down along the road to Sand, then back to the starting point.
